The trio of Scorer, slumps, silverware

The first mid fielder who arrived at a very impressive milestone of English Premier League was Frank Lampard. In Chelsea’s history, he has been the highest midfield scorer and if he passes eight goals he would cross over Kerry Dixon who is secondly placed among the marksmen of all time.
Eight goals were scored by Papiss Cisse, who had appeared five times in favor of Newcastle United and became the top marksman of the league in 2012. Since he moved from Freiburg in January, he found the net as many as ten times.
Not even a single goal was scored, thus resulting in goalless draw, in five seasons and ninety nine league games, was the record streak that ended for Real Madrid on the first day of the week. In February 2007, Real Betis held back Real Madrid and since then a 0-0 was scored at Bernabeu against Valencia.
At the time when rivals of Real Madrid, Barcelona were setting a new score record with 161 tallies in all the competitions, which surpassed a score of 158 set by the Real themselves in 1959/1960, it was like rubbing salt over the wounds of Real Madrid.
After the championship was retained by the Pireus club, Olympiacos had won the fourteen titles of Greek Super League out of sixteen titles. The latest title was the thirty ninth title won by the club which became a record for the European continent. This led to the emergence of thirteen bitter rivals. However Olympiacos can’t be suggested to be the only team who threw the title party.

Joel Dressen finally has his dream come true

In his teen days, Joel Dreesen picked up a football, ran in his backyard and imagined himself to be John Elway, like dozens of Colorado kids.

At the age of 29, he has his childhood hero as a boss and is playing his seventh season at NFL.
Dreessen, who is a Colorado State University graduate, was signed for $8.5 million by the Broncos after a great run in Houston.
Along with Jacob Tamme, a former Indianapolis player, form the main unit of the tight ends that provide the quarterbacks with bigger targets and protection. One such quarterback is Peyton Manning, who is scheduled for a comeback at Denver after being ruled out due to a neck injury.
“It is like a dream come true to be able to come back in Colorado,” said Dreesen during a break at the offseason conditioning of the Broncos’.
“I was really one of the biggest fan of Broncos,” Dreesen said, “I threw the football uncountable number of times to myself, all the while pretending to be John Elway. I have done it innumerable times. The Broncos were in their winning ways at the Super Bowl during 1997 and 1998, and I skipped classes to watch the parades at Denver.”
Dreessen had his pro career almost cut short way before he even got a chance to build it on the free agency. He was drafted by New York Jets in 2005 for the sixth round. Unfortunately and to his greatest surprise, he was cut in the year that followed. For the whole year of 2006, he was not playing any matches in the league.
“I have always considered having an opportunity to play at the NFL as a privilege. There has not been even a single day that I have taken this opportunity for granted,” Dreessen said. It was one of the most important lessons he had learnt during his forced ouster from the league. “It was ever since then that I realized I needed to sacrifice everything to have my place. I needed to work hard and put in my best effort to cement my place. It is not that I had understood how fast it goes during my rookie year. But being cut by the Jets and Eric Mangini really pumped me up. Now, I do not act complacent even for a single day. I come in as early I can and leave late.”
